At the 500 anniversary of the “encounter of cultures” – derision for all people whose cultures were destroyed in the following centuries – Cerro Rico has been declared to be world cultural heritage.

The celebration of this anniversary for me is distasteful and embarrassing for this humanistic and illuminated era. It shows the dissembling arrogance as well as an incredible stupid ness and a lack of knowledge of their history.

Serranias Almillanis – a mountain with more than 5000 meters, next to La Pa.

There are some well-known mountains that outperform the Bolivian metropolis, some of them can be reached well, and for example the famous Huayna Potosi with its well formed firn triangle and the giant ice-block Illimani. But also Cerro Charkini next to the Zongo-pass and ski-mountain Chacaltaya are in the direct catchment area of this metropolis.
